You may not realize this, but there are several different types of logos, the main three being typographic, Illustrative, and graphic.
Typographic is a logo made of text (like MailChimp), illustrative logos use images to describe what your business does (like Starbucks), and a graphic logo is a graphic design that represents your company (like Youtube).
Of course, you don’t have to choose one kind and stick with it. You can mix and match until you find what works best for your company.

No matter how good you are at drawing, it is always better to hire a professional artist to create your logo. They understand all the details involved with making a logo, and they have experience.

Again, why do you have to update your logo if you already found something timeless?
Even timeless logos need to be updated every once in a while. This puts a new twist to your logo and keeps you from getting old and stale.
